Two kites. One crossed line.
بلّشت بخيطين اتشابكوا
Dubai Kite didn't start in an office. It started on the sand at Kite Beach, with two friends, a strong sea wind and the Burj Al Arab watching from the water.
The afternoon
Mohanad Banbouk and Maher Alzaidi went to Kite Beach to do what everyone does there: fly kites and enjoy the wind. Two kites side by side, climbing higher and higher.
The clash
A gust pushed the kites together. The lines crossed, the kites locked, and one of them spun down and hit the sand. Somebody shouted "Point!" To this day, they still argue about who.
The game
Nobody went home. By the next rematch they were drawing zones in the sand with their heels. No cutting lines, because that's a shortcut, not a fight. Touch the ground, lose the point. First to three wins. By sunset, people on the beach had stopped to watch. Kite Fight was born.
The problem
Then they went looking for better kites, and couldn't find any. Cheap toys that tear in one afternoon. Nothing beautiful. Nothing you could make your own. In a city that builds the best of everything, kites had been forgotten.
The name
So they started Dubai Kite. The name comes from Dubai's vision: take something simple, add ambition, and make it world class. Dubai turned desert into a skyline. We're bringing kites back to its sky.
